Airfield with Ian Spink
I worked closely with renowned choreographer Ian Spink for 15 years (2009 – 2023) until he passed away in 2023. After several projects beginning in 2009, Ian established Airfield with myself and film maker Alan Paterson in 2012 which resulted in a series of projects taking place in Scotland, England and Copenhagen.
Outside of Airfield, Ian invited me to co-lead his professional artist residency programme ‘fast and Dirty’ (sic) which he established in the 1980s and initially focused on exploring collaboration between composers and choreographers. During my time with Ian it would eventually include film makers, actors, comedians, writers and visual artists as well.
Ian and I also formed a punk art noise ensemble called Sex Toys involving dance, electronic – noise music, live visuals and more. Collaborators included Sean Hay, Kirsty Mclean and others.
